Important Dates
For voters and candidates
March 2, 2010 is Election Day
Voting stations are open 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.
To vote, you must be a qualified Manitoba voter.
- Writ Day: January 29
- The election is called.
(Day 32 on the 33 Day Election Calendar)
- Enumeration begins: January 30
- Enumerators begin door to door canvassing to compile the Voters List
- Enumeration ends: February 13
- If you were missed in Enumeration, you can still get on the Voters
List during Revision, Advance Voting, or on Election Day.
- Close of Nominations: February 16
- Nomination papers must be submitted to the returning officer BEFORE
1:00 PM.
- Revision begins: February 14
- Returning offices and revising agents operating from 8:00 am to 8:00
pm
- Revision ends: February 18
- Returning offices open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
- Advance voting open: February 20
- Advance voting will be held at all returning offices and other locations
from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm (noon to 6 pm on Sunday).
- Advance voting close: February 27
- Advance voting stations close at 8:00 pm.
- Last day to apply for Absentee voting: February 27
- Returning Officers can accept applications until 8:00 pm.
- Last day to apply for Homebound voting: March 1
- Returning Officers can accept applications until 8:00 pm.
- Election Day: March 2
- Voting stations are open 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.
- End of candidacy and campaign period: May 3
- Candidacy period ends 2 months after Election day.
- Deadline for financial statements: July 2
- Both candidates and registered political parties must file election
financial statements with Elections Manitoba within 4 months of election
day.
Note: Important dates that fall on a holiday (Sunday,
for example) may have been changed to the next working day.
