About Our Staff

Head Quarters Staff

Elections Manitoba is headed by the Chief Electoral Officer who is assisted by the Deputy Chief Electoral Officer. The CEO and DCEO are supported by a core staff of eleven people.

Field Staff

Returning officers (ROs) manage the election at the electoral division level and are your main contact for information and assistance during an election. They provide voter services — coordinating enumeration, answering questions about the voting process, setting up voting places — and candidate support — preparing and distributing the voters list, distributing and receiving forms and offering additional assistance.

Contact information for each RO appears on this website and in province-wide advertisements after an election is announced.

The Chief Electoral Officer hires ROs and assistant returning officers (AROs) to conduct the election in each electoral division. Returning officers recruit election officials for each electoral division.

Approximately 10,000 election officials are employed to administer a general election. This includes approximately 3,000 door-to-door enumerators who prepare voters lists and approximately 7,000 voting officers and assistant voting officers who operate the voting places.
