Ensuring Integrity and Fairness in Electoral Process
Home >  Political Participation > Information for Scrutineers

Candidates are allowed to appoint scrutineers to represent them at the voting places on election day. The job of the scrutineer is to observe the conduct of the voting station to ensure it is operating in a free and fair manner. Specifically, a scrutineer can

  • challenge any person believed not to be qualified to vote
  • challenge any person believed to have already voted
  • challenge any person believed to be personating a voter

For detailed rules about becoming a scrutineer and the conduct of scrutineers at the voting place, please see Elections Manitoba's document Information for Scrutineers.
