Election Expenses Reporting

Election campaign financial statements for candidates and parties are due within four months of election day.

Election returns going back to the 1995 General Election are available on this website. Please note that, as technology has changed, the method of posting information to this site has also evolved, so you will notice some differences in the way information is displayed between years.

During the process of review and finalization, amended returns may also have been filed. Amended returns filed prior to 2004 are not available on this site, however, a copy of these returns can be obtained from Elections Manitoba.

In the event of a discrepancy between this information and the statements and returns filed with Elections Manitoba, the latter shall prevail.

Candidate Election Returns

Political candidates and parties are required to file financial returns with Elections Manitoba, outlining their election expenses and financial transactions within 4 months after election day.

In this manner, Elections Manitoba can ensure that all candidates and political parties endeavor to comply with the provisions outlined in The Elections Finances Act, The Elections Act, and guidelines issued.

For 2003 and later, the original and final returns have been scanned and posted on the Web site. During the process of review and finalization, amended returns may also have been filed.

Information on contributions to candidates or registered political parties for years prior to 2003 may be obtained by contacting Elections Manitoba directly.

Statements and returns are public information and are made available for public inspection as they are received. They may be inspected or copied by anyone during regular office hours at Elections Manitoba. Where a review for a particular return has not been completed, the information available for inspection may not be complete. If the review has been completed, a final version is placed in the public inspection file along with the statement and return as originally filed.

If you are unable to visit Elections Manitoba, you may request that information be sent to you. In the event of a discrepancy between this information and the statements and returns filed with Elections Manitoba, the latter shall prevail.

Party Election Returns

Political candidates and parties are required to file financial returns with Elections Manitoba, outlining their election expenses and financial transactions within 30 days of the close of the campaign period, or approximately 3 months after election day .

In this manner, Elections Manitoba can ensure that all candidates and political parties endeavor to comply with the provisions outlined in The Elections Finances Act , The Elections Act, and guidelines issued .

Summaries (final only) of annual financial statements of registered political parties are available on our Web site for the years 1995-2002.
